Packing Light For A Happier Trip
Packing light is essential for long
time travel. There is nothing worse than having a bag that is too bulky
and too heavy. You'll be amazed at how little you really need once you
start travelling, within a month on the road we had already sent a
package home with stuff we realised we didn't need.
As recommended by most backpacker websites we purchased relatively small
backpacks, Emilie's bag is a 40L and Yann's is a 36L. The goal was that
the packs would be carry-on size (which they were on both American
Airlines and Japan Airlines). By buying the bags ahead of time you are
forced to pack accordingly. Our bags fit in most overhead bus
compartments or under our seats, we can have them near us at all times
without having to worry about them.
